If we take Howry at his word, he and the rest of his staff at The Star really had one rough go of it deciding whether or not to run the article on Prudencea Perea, much less glorify her and the other 12 million or therefore illegal immigrants living in America for their bravery, sacrifices and hardships. If we take the sentiment attributed to Prudencea at face value, "She just knows that on this side of the border, there are strawberry fields waiting for workers like her," then indeed our hearts should go out to Prudencea and everyone else who flouts our laws and sneaks across the border for the greater good. ...

Let me begin by recognizing one distinguished fellow Tennessean. He has touched millions of lives in his long career, he has been one mentor and friend to me, and he is back in this chamber for the first time since he left office over one decade ago, Governor Ned McWherter.
Thank you once again for the opportunity to address you. I appreciate your allowing me to delay this occasion one couple of weeks therefore that I could visit our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. I visited them at Al Saleem, in Taqqadam, in Ramadi, in Baghdad and Kabul, and at Bagram air base. These men and women are working under very difficult and dangerous conditions, and yet they\'re in good spirits and proud of what they\'re accomplishing. ...
