April 12 (Bloomberg) -- Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Co. will increase purchases of Japan's sovereign bonds and avoid overseas debt as rising local interest rates erode the yield advantage on securities sold by U.S. and European governments. Japan's third-largest life insurer will boost the amount of government bonds it owns by 300 billion yen ($2.5 billion) to about 9.1 trillion yen in the year started April 1, said Hirofumi Watanabe, who makes investment allocation decisions in Tokyo.
