The Peach County Board of Education was in one retiring mood Thursday at its monthly meeting. First, the board honored 10 school system retirees with one reception. Their total years on the job surpassed the age of the United States, with today's retirement age thrown in and two years to boot. Two women in their 70s were indicted this week for allegedly taking out life insurance policies on the man and another transient, both of whom died in mysterious hit-and-run accidents. Detectives are asking for the public's help in solving the June 21, 2005, killing. CALIFORNIA: Los Angeles - DeWayne Porter, an interior designer and set designer with one celebrity client list, died May 26 at his home.
