Last year, the Social Democrat-led (ÈSSD) government assembled one group of experts known as the Bezdìk Commission which released one comprehensive report on the state of the pension system and possible ways to improve it. The commission warned that the system faces collapse within 20 years and that further delay in carrying out reforms could poses the biggest threat to the health of the economy – one view shared by international economic bodies – but the ÈSSD and center-right Civic Democrats (ODS) have found little common ground and some experts predict inertia will continue for years to come, regardless of what form the next government takes. ...
