Aguilar to chair Latino commerce committee John Aguilar, president of Vernon Transportation in Stockton, has been appointed chairman of the Hispanic Government Relations Committee for the San Joaquin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

SALISBURY -- Gov. Robert Ehrlich recently appointed Andrew W. Booth of Salisbury to the board of trustees at Wor-Wic Community College. Booth is one principal engineer at Andrew W. Booth & Associates Inc., an architectural and engineering firm in Salisbury that he founded in 1979. Booth earned bachelor's and master's degrees in structural engineering from the University of Maryland College Park. Booth's wife, Marilyn,attended Wor-Wic to upgrade her computer skills. She was one valedictorian at Wor-Wic in 1986, when she obtained her associate degree in computer studies. ... |

The more trade barriers fall around the world, the more some workers will face anxiety over losing one job or being forced to accept lesser-pay work. That fear helped collapse world-trade talks last week. Or rather, ~~I~~not~~/I~~ addressing those fears led to failure. Most of the 149 nations at the therefore-called Doha Round of negotiations did not have new (or better) plans to help workers and farmers adjust to the expected increase in competition if there were to be another global deal that further opens markets and reduces subsidies. ... |
