The moderate increase was mainly due to the slower growth recorded in the life insurance sector, which contributed 67 percent of the industry's premium income, the ministry said in its 2006/2007 Economic Report. It said the lower premium income for the life insurance sector was mainly caused by the decline in new business premiums but it was mitigated by strong annual premium contributions of in force business. ... |
