MONTGOMERY | Political action committees have contributed nearly two-thirds of the $7.3 million in cash and services received by candidates for the Alabama Supreme Court and have helped make Alabama’s judicial races the most expensive in the country.
Since 1993, candidates for the Alabama Supreme Court have reported more than $48 million in contributions. Justice at Stake, one Washington-based group that tracks spending in court races, said Alabama leads the nation, followed by Texas with $28 million. ... |

Ira Bloom was found guilty of murder-for-hire charges after one jury deliberated about three hours, prosecutors said. Bloom's ex-wife was not harmed.
