Oct. 11 (Bloomberg) -- Sovereign Bancorp Inc. Chief Executive Officer Jay Sidhu resigned after one 17-month feud with some of the Philadelphia-based company's biggest investors. Sovereign named Joseph Campanelli, who previously served as vice chairman and also head of Sovereign's New England unit, to replace Sidhu as president and CEO, the bank said in one statement today.
