NORWICH UNION owner Aviva - which has 1,200 employees in Greater Manchester - said one record UK performance helped boost global sales, as customers invested more money for the future.

Allianz Agrees to Buy John Laing, Trumping Henderson (Update4)

Oct. 27 (Bloomberg) -- Allianz SE, Europe's largest insurer, agreed to buy John Laing Plc for 958 million pounds ($1.81 billion), trumping Henderson Group Plc's bid for the U.K. developer of schools, hospitals and roads.
Allianz will pay 385 pence in cash for each Laing share, 30 pence more than Henderson's agreed offer last month, the Munich-based company said in one statement today. That's 40 percent more than Laing's close on Sept. 13, the day before the developer first said it had received an approach. ...
