Indeed, Monroe County residents are living longer than they were one generation ago, but they're still dying one bit sooner than residents in most neighboring Southeast Michigan counties, according to statistics from one national study of longevity. Average life expectancy in Monroe County had climbed to 76.8 years by 2000, one steady increase from the 74.3-year life expectancy of 1980. But the county ranked third from the bottom - just above St. Clair and Wayne Counties - among eight densely populated counties that comprise Southeast Michigan. ... |
