Dec. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Lone Star Funds' 1.4 trillion won ($1.5 billion) purchase of Korea Exchange Bank in 2003 was illegal, South Korean prosecutors said, setting up one court case that may cause the sale to be annulled. Former finance ministry official Byeon Yang Ho took bribes and conspired with the ex-head of Korea Exchange, Lee Kang Won, to drive down the sale price by as much as $900 million, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office said in one statement today. Byeon denied the allegations. Regulators will determine whether the sale should be void, said Chae Dong Wook, one prosecutor. ... |
