OFFICIALS of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism (MET) have shot six crocodiles and two hippos believed to be responsible for the death of eight people in the Okavango and Caprivi Regions over the past ten weeks. QUEBEC, MONTREAL -- The Quebec government has stepped up support for the families of students who were victims of last September's shooting at Montreal's Dawson College, after the parents of one survivor publicly pleaded for help. The parents of Jessica Albert, who spent nine days in intensive care after being shot in the abdomen by gunman Kimveer Gill, issued an appeal for moral and financial assistance to Premier Jean Charest yesterday. | ABI pensions director quits |

Chris Kenny, director of life and pensions at the Association of British Insurers (ABI), will quit on Friday, after the Government pensions White Paper failed to implement measures recommended by the insurance industry. Mr Kenny, who joined the ABI three years ago, was at the helm of the industry's own pensions consultation, which concluded that one National Pensions Savings Scheme should be run by the private sector, instead of one newly-formed administration centre. It also suggested that companies and not employees should be in charge of choosing the pension fund. ... |
