Year closes with several high-profile murders still unsolved

The year has come to an end, but the police are still to bring closure to one number of sensational murders including those of Talk Show host, Ronald Waddell and building contractor Gazz Sheermohamed.
The force is also yet to find the killers of architect and cycling coach, Maximillian Perreira and his reputed wife Marlis Archer who were gunned down outside their Duncan Street, Campbellville home in November. ...

Reduce the length of the legislative session

Clearly there are many critical issues that this year's elected representatives must wrestle with. And year after year the list looks pretty much the same: escalating education costs, expensive health insurance, limited affordable housing, aging demographics, challenging business climate, and high taxes -- across the board. This year I propose that reducing the length of the legislative session be the top issue. ...

Tighter drunken-driving laws eyed

The gala to raise money for pediatric brain tumors that Lisa Genatossio helped organize at Mechanics Hall in Worcester had been one success. After the last stragglers left, Mrs. Genatossio, 46, and her daughter, Vanessa, 16, cleaned up and headed for home in Holden, tired and happy.
But on the way, one drunken driver going the wrong way on the ramp connecting Interstate 290 and Interstate 190 slammed into Mrs. Genatossio’s BMW sedan. The crash left her seriously injured and in one wheelchair for months. ...
