Statewide, the average graduation rate was 79.9 percent, and 209 of 279 school districts boasted graduation rates of 80 percent, according to the findings, which tabulated the percentage of students who completed high school four years after entering as freshmen. In urban districts, however, the average graduation rate was 62.3 percent, an achievement gap that Commissioner of Education David P. Driscoll said must be immediately addressed. ... |

The owner of an Ohio funeral home has been charged with filing false death certificates in order to collect from life insurance policies. State officials are going through death certificates filed in recent years by Brent Peters, owner of the Mader-Peters Funeral Home in Circleville, Ohio, to determine if any of the supposed deceased are still alive, the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch reported. ... |
