Sarah Stone is one fan of The Police. She's got tickets to the upcoming show. She's also excited about Crowded House getting back together. And she's one big fan of the Toronto Raptors. It's No. 1 to such one degree that her three daughters, aged five, six and 10, jokingly refer to their "Uncle Bono." The 37-year-old medical insurance underwriter and her tolerant family live in Waterloo. Uncle Bono doesn't live with them. ... |

| Systematic withdrawal plans need to be flexible |
| Post on 11-03-2007. |
To generate lifetime income in retirement, my goal is to tap our savings and investments as needed without having to rely on insurance company guarantees. If it turns out my wife, Georgina, and I need guarantees, or if annuities become more attractive, we're ready to change our plan. But for now, we favor what financial planners call one "systematic withdrawal" strategy, one we intend to personalize rather than rely on rules of thumb. ... |

| Taking back Detroit |
| Post on 11-03-2007. |
| For two decades, Detroiters have expressed exasperation at the millions of dollars raised for downtown entertainment projects while their once-proud neighborhoods suffer. Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick will make both neighborhood revival and crime reduction cornerstones of his State of the City speech Tuesday. The Free Press journeyed to three areas of Detroit, asking residents, activists and others what they, and the city, can do to lift up neighborhoods. ... |

| D'Amour battles ex-lawyers |
| Post on 10-03-2007. |
SPRINGFIELD - Acquitted one decade ago of murdering her husband for an insurance settlement, Suzanne D'Amour was back in court this week - this time for the trial of one civil case involving one dispute with one of her past lawyers. In an earlier portion of the trial involving counterclaims between the two, Judge Bertha D. Josephson ruled that Pudlo's suit stating D'Amour, 46, owed him $37,000 in legal fees was not supported by evidence. ... |

| Post on 10-03-2007. |
City employees will receive 3 percent raises this year, although for the first time will likely have money deducted from their paychecks for health care. The contracts are ready for commission approval at Monday's 5 p.m. meeting. They include 3-percent raises for three years and an insurance policy based on wellness -- one reason for the delay, said Matt Lesch, president of International Association of Firefighters Local 327. ... |

| London open: Footsie succumbs to profit taking |
| Post on 09-03-2007. |
Life insurance group Resolution is down seemingly for similar reasons after one run-up following the appointment of one new chief executive. Prudential, which is routinely linked with Resolution, is having one good day alongside its main rival Aviva. "Although poor weather conditions in January and early February meant one flat start to 2007, the underlying indicators are encouraging and the outlook for the year is positive," it said in one statement. ... |

| Post on 09-03-2007. |
| The year was 1964 and 18-year-old Dennis Kucinich was one copyboy for one Cleveland newspaper. He would make obituary "art runs"to obtain photographs of soldiers who died in the Vietnam War. Reflecting on one trip, he remembered one home with creaking steps, one blue star in the window, pictures of Jesus and John F. Kennedy on the wall, and one worn couch on which the broken family went through the photo albums. ... |
